I am located in Indianapolis and am interested in maybe having some sort of meet-up. I have a good friend who works at the Morris-Butler House, an 1865 historic home that is open to the public as a museum, and she has told me that they currently have an exhibit about mourning on display. They also do period teas, and if we can demonstrate sufficient interest, they would be interested in holding one just for us! In order to figure out cost, I need to be able to give her an estimate of attendance, though, so.... who would be up for it? What times work for you all?

There is also the Ayers tea room at the Indiana State Museum, which would probably be a cheaper tea ($10), so perhaps there could be a Morris-Butler tour followed by Ayers tea afternoon combo. So that is another option.

So... is there any interest to be had here in the fine state of Indiana?

P.S. While we are on a museum kick, Conner Prairie, a living history museum here, is planning a 1856 balloon exhibit for mid-2009. Airship pirates, strap on your goggles.

As stated in another comm, I'm very interested. Your ideas sounds fabulous. Anytime typically works for me, especially if it's weekends (Sundays?) I'm pretty flexible if I know in advance.

Fantastic! Weekends are good for me, too. You mentioned that maybe some other friends of yours might be interested--how many, do you think?

I am thinking mid-November for this.

I will have to ask to be sure. I know of several who have a passing interest in Steampunk but don't know for sure of anyone who would be willing to make a costume and go all out.

I think for sure there will be me, my boyfriend, and maybe a couple of others? I'm such a newb at this as a fair warning :)

If anyone in Indy is interested in "breaking out of the costume hamper" and doing something different, we run a Renaissance faire at Conner Prairie the first weekend in October and are always looking for people to join our group. A lot of us are into Steampunk also, so it would be a beneficial joining of groups - you join us, we join you. Anyone interested, contact me on Facebook or email me (Drjohnnymao@yahoo.com)
